Dunnage Bags | Valves and Inflator Options
In today’s market there is variety of materials that make the outer materials of dunnage bags, such as paper, PPL and polywoven. Traditionally, paper (Kraft) dunnage bags were the most commonly used bags, but these days they are almost fully replaced with polywoven bags. Polywoven bags generally have the highest resistance against moisture and punctures.
Dunnage Bag Valves
Another differentiator is the type of valve used to inflate the bags. It is just like mobile phones, every brand needs a different connector. With Dunnage Bags there are standard, narrow and fast inflation valves. A fast inflation valve speeds up the inflation process by up to 50%. Unlike standard and narrow valves, a bag with a fast inflation valve can also be deflated, making it suitable for re-use.
Dunnage Bag Inflator Tools
Standard Inflators – Need Air Supply
Traditionally, an airgun that connects to an air compressor was used to inflate dunnage bags. These airguns are relatively inexpensive, but they need to be connected to an air supply (compressor). The hose of the air compressor is attached to the airgun, and the airgun attaches to the dunnage bag. Turning on the compressor allows the bag to be filled until maximum capacity is reached.
Battery Operated – Portable
Being on the forefront of the latest innovations, we offer 2 types of portable, battery operated (rechargeable) units for the easy and quick inflation of dunnage bags. These handheld, battery powered air guns are convenient to carry and operate.
Benefits
Whereas a compressor limits free movement inside the shipping container, a portable airgun makes this a lot easier. It allows for one person to load the container, saves the cost of a compressor and creates a safer workplace eliminating electrical dangers and tripping hazards.
Choosing the right battery inflator tool
There is a variety of battery tools in the market. Most are manufactured by the companies that also manufacture the dunnage bags. An important aspect to consider when investing in a battery operated airgun is the battery life. Once this has worn off, it means you often need to purchase a whole new unit as there are often no separate batteries available, or they come at a high cost.
We recognise this problem, which is why we have developed a DeWalt Battery Inflator. This tool uses the standard 18V lithium DeWalt batteries that are sold all over Australia by tool shops and Bunnings.
